Les Loges- Saulces - 6th Bn RWF Dead - Looking for Surviving Family Members

    IMG_0393.JPG

In the small village of Les Logues-Saulces in Normandy on the 16th Aug 1944. Three men from the 6th Bn RWF were badly injured in a German ambush. They were taken by local people to a nearby house, where over the next few hours they succumbed to their injuries. The three men were buried in the local churchyard along with another unknown British Soldier. For the last 70yrs the villagers have lovingly tended their graves and remembered their deaths.

The house where they died is now owned by a former member of the regiment and their deaths are not forgotten. We are now trying to find family members of the three men, in the hope that they can attend a commemoration service later this month on the 16th August in the village. We have first-hand accounts of their last hours and the present owner of the property would really like to speak to the relatives and explain the circumstances of their deaths, and the impact it had on the village.. Can you help? Do you know any of the family of these three men?:

Major HUBERT De BURGH Pritchard(6th Bn RWF 2nd in Command) Son of Lt.-Col. Hubert Cecil Prichard and Nora Diana Prichard, of Pwllywrach, Glamorgan.
Husband of Rosalind Margaret Clarissa Prichard, of Pwllywrach.

14635721 William Graham Jones aged 19. Home Residence not yet identified.

William Lewis aged 19 - Son of William and Emily Lewis, of Presteigne, Radnorshire.

If you are from any of the locations listed. Please share on local web pages.
    Many Thanks

Hubert de burgh Pritchard seems to have been son in law to Agatha Christie. He married, and a son Matthew Prichard gets a lot of hits on google.

    ATB,

    Lars

Excellent Lars….Through your pointer, we've managed to contact Maj Pritchards family :-)

Also closing in on William Lewis from Presteigne.

Just William Graham Jones to box off. Probably born 1923/24. Unusual name combination for the time do you think?

William G Jones was from Anglesey:

Can we narrow it down to a specific place?

Note it says reside CaernarfonshireThere is a William Graham Jones on Bangor Memorial WW2. A look up of the newspapers after the death date might clinch it. There will be copies at the Caernarfon Archives.I'm not due to head that way for a couple of weeks.

I noted that Hywyn. Many thanks. Thought perhaps they were one and the same in that era.
    So possibly Bangor.
