Re: New books
I read the drummers memoirs and the title is somewhat misleading as most of it was taken from some newspaper interviews he gave. If you have an interest in the period and the regiment, it is worth a read, but I would not rush out to buy a copy as much of it appears to be cribbed from other previously published accounts. Mind you, now it can be got for a cheaper price I might buy a copy.

Hello Jerry,
Many thanks for your info on the Drummer book. I have not read it yet. But when I go out buying books the R W F ones are like a magnet to me.
Many thanks for your input and guidance always welcome. We are both aware of the old adage " The man who does not make a mistake does nothing"

Re: New books
One of the best older "Ranker" books I have is "The Prisoner of Veronesh" about an RWF Sgt captured during the Crimea, a contemporary of Luke O'Conner.

Strangely enough whilst in Carmarthen today I picked up a copy of the Very Thing for £8, previously I had read a borrowed copy. As I posted, worth a read and if you collect books to the RWF a must have now it is cheaper but a misleading title IMO. I think if it did not claim to be his memoirs I would perhaps have liked it better.
