    Joining rwfca

The backbone of the RWFCA is its branch system. The details of each branch is shown above in a separate post. The first port of call in any application is to write to your nearest branch secretary whose details are shown, alternatively, go along to a meeting and introduce yourself. Branch meetings are an opportunity to gather with like minded Royal Welch Fusiliers and find out what is going on in the Regiment.

There is a system of independent membership, for those who cannot get to a branch, but since the death of Sue Reynolds the administration of this system is under review and an announcement will be made once we have confirmed how independent membership is to work in the future. All applications that are made on this forum will be held be RHQ RWELSH, Hightown Barracks, Wrexham LL13 8RN and processed once the new system is up and running.

Since merging with RRW we maintain close links with the Royal Welsh and are effectively an independently run arm of the Royal WELSH Association. Our official name is The Royal Welch Fusiliers Comrades Association of the Royal Welsh. The link with an existing Regiment is a mandatory part of being an Regimental Association registered as a charity. Benevolence payout to former RWF Veterans amounted to over £18,000 in 2013, supporting this work is key part of our Association. Please note that all funding for Benevolence comes from The Royal Welsh.

Since April 14 there is only one Battalion of the Royal Welsh in the Armored Infantry role based at Lucknow Barracks, Tidworth. The 1st Battalion's soldiers are called Fusiliers and wear Hackles and flashes and grenades as collar dogs.

I consider the best part of Comradeship to be the simple acts of care and kindness we offer to one another as former Soldiers and Officers of the Regiment. Charity begins at home so lets look after one another.

    Re: Joining rwfca

The independent RWFCA membership scheme is long overdue Bob, i'm sure if it's thought through, designed in a way that offers tangible benefits(such as involvement in RWFCA related events..battlefield tours etc) and pitched correctly on social media, it will be a success. Although the branches are the mainstay, there are literally 100's of former members of the regiment who could possibly be persuaded to join. Currently on FB.

RWF Pals has over 877 members.

The RWF Forum on FB has also significantly increased its readership.
