The Memoirs of a Very fortunate Man by Captain John Bennett

This little book is hard to find and expensive to buy but I am hoping that someone may have a copy and can scan the pages that relate to the battalion's fight on the Dye River up until the time of his (Bennett's) capture at St Venant. I would be most grateful or any help re his.

I have a copy Jerry, pm me your address, I will check it covers that period and will post it to you. Extract what you need then return. I'm away at the moment, will sort it later next week. I don't think Bennett was caught as he ended up in Kohima in 1944.

In the meantime, unless you also have a copy of The Red Dragon, attached is an image map of the 1st Bn's defensive position at the River Dyle at the point that
they had their first engagement with the Germans in May 1940:

Many thanks for the prompt return of the book Jerry, I hope it was of some use. Its a shame that John Bennett hadn't linked up with an historian specialising in that period. The story of his wartime service lacks the detail that would have made it a great book.

Finally a massive thank you for sending me a signed copy of one of your own authored books "Aisne 1914" That was a very kind unexpected gesture and very much appreciated.

Thanks. Perhaps if Jerry would like his own copy, it is there.
