Re: Mac Gittings
Oh Dear, another sad chapter in the history books of the RWF.
The previous messages posted on this thread have identified what a professional Mac was. He was also a good friend and my last association with him was when we served together in Shirley, Solihull in the early 90's - he was WOIC Cadet Trg Team and I was Chief Clerk 5 RRF - we were both members of the local Royal British Legion. Sharryn also managed one of the local Shoe Shops and they both had an abundance of friends in the Town.
He made his mark in Shirley when he assumed the duties of Parade Marshal each successsive Remembrance Day - they still refer to him as the "Mini Guardsman" and were full admiration for him when he impressed them with his Military Skills when on parade. Indeed, those who I have informed of the sad news have asked me to convey their condolences - they range from the Legion Members, barbers Shop, Pubs and Traders in Shirley.
Deepest condolences to Sharryn and family from myself, Verna and family plus members of the London Branch RWFCA.
It's also worthy of note that in addition to his GOC's NI Commendation, Mac was a recipient of the Silver Jubilee Medal in Tidworth 1977.

Re: Mac Gittings
As Al Poole said Mac was my CSM in Tern Hill and the Falklands and I got on very well with him. One of the smartest, well turned out soldiers I ever met and a very fair man.
RIP and condolences to his family

Sorry for the late response but I don't use the forum that often, I'm very sorry to here of your loss and I admired Mac as a soldier and a man my feelings go out to Sharyn and your family. My last memory of you Sharyn was the driving lessons in Lemgo, I would have attended the funeral if I had know in time, sorry for that. RIP Mac.
