    How to access the Vault

If you have come here for the first time, please remember that:

1 - We need information to do our research, so provide as many details as you can. If you just ask for information about "grandfather William Williams who served with the Royal Welch in the Great War", you will be disappointed.

2 - The members of the Research section bend over backwards to answer information requests. An acknowledgement will be appreciated, if only by clicking "Thank for this post". We do like to know that the info has actually been read. It's demotivating to think that nobody has actually looked at the reply and it may well discourage further efforts by other members to help you.

3 - It is wise to check back every now and then. Some section members may be away on duty or on holiday, and more information pertinent to the request may still appear after several weeks or even longer. If you believe that the first reply to your question sums up all available information, and never check back, you may miss interesting details.

4 - We do not know everything here, and sometimes we will be unable to do much more than point you in the right direction. If that enables you to find out more about your subject, please share it here with us so that we may be able to extend out knowledge of the Regiment's history.

    John

Re: How to get the most from the Research section

    Welcome to the Forum, Michael!

Access to the Vault is restricted to members who have donated and members who regularly provide information in the Research section. As a new member you would have to be a donator since the second option takes time.

You could start by describing your research plans in a new thread in the research section. We'll very likely be able to help you.

    John

Re: How to get the most from the Research section

    Hi John

    Many thanks for your reply.

I understand about the options available & I am happy to donate once I understand the process!

Just to give you an idea about what it is I am doing & researching. I am developing a database on modern Honours & Award, primarily post South Atlantic. However, I have just been doing some research on WW2. Must be the romantic in me!!

Anyway, I am interested in some of the Regimental Journals from the early 1970's & was wondering if it would be possible to access them from The Vault?

Once again thanks for the reply & I hope to hear from you soon.

    Regards
    Michael

Re: How to get the most from the Research section

    Hello Harrismj99,
Keith Jones and I are working on placing copies of the Red Dragon on the forum. I have been promised more Journals but have yet to rec them. I also have 4 copies of the Red Dragon as printed in the 2nd Battalions service in Malaya and am nearly ready to zoom them over to Keith . Last week I rec the last journal turned out by the R.W.F. I am constantly on the look out for journals (Red Dragon ) to help place on the forum, with the help of Keith.

    Hi jungle1810,

    Many thanks for your message.

Sounds like your doing a great job with the journals etc.

I'm interested in any from the 70's & in particular 73-74.

Any suggestion about where I might find them would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards.

    Hello,
Go to the home page, scroll down until you see Military genealogy and the vault. Click on the vault and all should be revealed. but you have to be a contributor to gain access to the vault.
