    18762 DM Jones

I am trying to find out as much information as possible on Private 18762 D M Jones who served with 13 RWF in WWI. I believe he was wounded in the Somme offensive.

Any information would be very much appreciated.

I happened to look in re Loftys thread on EBay medals and saw your post (hence the almost immediate response!)

I have 18762 David Morris Jones, Ogmore Vale 13th Bn wounded towards the end of the War (Aug/Sept 1918)

    I'll post more later.
Have you an rough year birth/address for him?

    Re: 18762 DM Jones

He appears on a casualty list which is dated 4th Oct 1918. The lists usually appeared some 4 to 6 weeks after the event. In this time frame then the 13th were involved in Battle of Albert 21-23 Aug and 2nd Bapaume 31/8-3/9. He may have been wounded in other attacks in between or in the daily attrition though (shelling etc)

With the age provided by John above then he is likely to be the one in the 1911 census at 46 St John St, Ogmore Vale.

Incidentally, next number up from him (18763) is Edward Matthew David of 9 Railway Terrace, Ogmore Vale who was KIA with 9th Bn 7 11 1918. He had previously served with 13th Bn though. Two mates joining up together? No other Ogmore Vale lads readily seen in the vicinity of the numbers.
