Re: 8th battalion 1940
Hello,
On the outbreak of war 115th (Royal Welch) Brigade consisting of the 8th 9th and 10th Battalions of the regiment were formed as as a second line Brigade. The Brigade commander was Brigadier C.S Price -Davies a retired regular soldier who had commanded the 7th Battalion for a number of years the 8th Denbighshire battalion was mobilised on the 2 September 1939 as the second line of the of the 4th Battalion and moved at once for into Coed Helen camp Caeranarfon. In command was Lt Col R.C.lloyd the 2nd in command was Major sir Henry Tate The adjutant was Captain S .V.Misa of the 16 warrant officers and N.C.O's R.S.M. Bacon C.S.M Wright Sgt price and the orderly room Sgt Casson were either Regulars or Reservists one of the Battalions greatest assets was it's imperturbable Q.M. Lt Quarter Master E Davies. that is all I can find on the 8th Battalion. It may well be a good idea to google the 115th Royal Welch Brigade
Regards RBD

Re: 8th battalion 1940
115 Brigade was part of 38 Welsh Division a Second Line Territorial Division - formed from 53rd Welsh Division during (in my opinion) the very foolish doubling of the TA in 1939.
My book which covers them is 'Red Dragon' by PK Kemp and John Graves - excellent book that puts many other works to shame - however 115 Brigade has (I believe 2-4 pages on it?)
115 Brigade was the sister Brigade of 158 Brigade.
I'll be able to look it up next week, but (I hate to be dull here) assume little of interest bar training a Second Line Division with low amounts of usable equipment due to the prioritisation for the BEF, and then the massive organisational cluster**** that followed Dunkirk limiting issuance of gear...
Many of them wore 22 Pattern Service Dress as the newer Battledress had not arrived in sensible sizes and was often terribly awkward.
