I got a pic from from jungle10 (Don) a few years ago 1934 of RWF V.Horton, Welter-weight, W.Walters Light Heavyweight, J.Pottinger Fly-weight, A Barnes Bantam-weight Welsh Amateur Boxing team British Empire Games London 1934
But not the Walters I want from 1900's
I have a very large photo of the whole 3rd Battalion in Limerick 1919 so your man Morse would be on it if you knew what he looked like

Got the names of the two boxers at the start of the thread Walter Walters and George Osborne also the boxing records from 1920 till 1931 intresting to note also that Johnny Basham served at Quetta in 1911-12 as I have his photo with the Company

Of the competitors who reached the finals, Sergt. Morse, A Company (Caerphilly), displayed a vastly superior knowledge of the game than the remainder.
MIDDLE WEIGHTS Pte. 64 Taylor, D Company (Liverpool) v.Sergt. E. T. Morse, A Company (Caerphilly).-Taylor put up a good fight against a more experienced opponent till the end of the second round, when he was knocked out. Sergt. E. T. Morse, A Company v. Pte. 30 C.Jones, C Company (Cardiff).-Jones was knocked out in the first round. SEMI-FINALS. Sergt. E. T. Morse, A Company v. Bandsman Poulton, H.A. Company. -In the first round full of clinches Morse just led, increasing his lead in the second, he outed his man in the third. His left lead was very useful in stopping the longer reach of his opponent who fought a plucky fight with a broken thumb against a more experienced boxer, and he was forced to give in, gaining for his Company extra points awarded to good losers FINAL. Sergt. E. T. Morse, A Company v. Amr. S/Sergt. McMillan, H.Q. Company.-A fast contest in which Morse was down once in the first round and saved himself by resting. By a left lead followed by a hard right swing McMillan gained the advantage
in the second round. Morse, rushing and leading heavily early in the last round, staggered his opponent who was now tired, and knocked him out in the last twenty seconds.

There is a picture of Morse in 1950's at a reunion in Wrexham in the Forum Gallery. I will see if I can find the link. It's with a group of guys who fought in Warizstan in the early 1920's.

Have a look through the members list for Bob Doak. He was the 1st Bn's boxing officer in the 80/90's and has a great interest and knowledge in the history of RWF regimental boxing, drop him a line, i'm sure he would be interested in your work. Finally one of our members, John Turner. His wife is a descendent of Billy Wells.....I think!!

I corresponded a few years ago with a woman who was a Wells relative and sent her quite a bit on Bombardier Billy Wells, He came to Brum on the recruiting drive with the boxing team in 1915 -16 the prize in the raffle was a bulldog.
