Flat Racing Competition 2012
Flat Horse Racing Competition 2012
Competition Details:
On grass the season starts in late March with the Lincoln Handicap as the first big race and goes through to autumn with the Doncaster November handicap as the last big race. The Lincoln Handicap is run on the flat at Doncaster Racecourse, on the 31 Mar 2012. The race is run over a straight mile and is traditionally thought of as signalling the start of the flat season.
Therefore, the competition will run from 31 Mar 2012 and ends after the last afternoon race on 10 Nov 2011.
There will be an entrance fee for each competitor of £10.00. This is to discourage time-wasters and to make the competition more interesting!
Your only objective is to make the most profit over the period of the competition
RULES:
1. The competition will commence on Sat 31 Mar 2012 and ends after the last race of the afternoon on the Sat 10 Nov 2012. The competition is open to all members of the Forum.
2. Once entered into the competition, an entrant can select up to, and no more than, 225 horses (equates to one horse a day over the period of the competition) entered in any Flat or AW race. If you haven't used all your selections before the end of the competition, £10 will be deducted from your Bank for every selection you fail to make.
3. Each competitor will be given a theoretical Bank of £1,000. Each time you make a selection, it will carry a virtual stake of £10. When placing a bet you can select from two available pricing options - the price the selection opens at (OP) OR the Starting Price (SP). The default price will be the OP and therefore you do not need to prefix your selection unless you want to take the SP. Each Way bets will be settled at £5 for a win and £5 for a place.
4. The selections must be posted in an unedited post at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the event (the events local time). A horse may be DELETED up to 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the selection's race.
5. Naps. You may declare up to 25 Naps throughout the competition. This means that a horse declared as a Nap will have a stake of £20 placed on it. Posts should be made as shown:
Sat 2 April
NAP: Push The Button Doncaster 14:40 - (If you abbreviate the name of the course, please use the first 4 letters)
6. Each Way Betting Rules: You may declare up to a total of 50 EW bets throughout the competition. Posts should be made as shown:
Sat 2 April
EW: Push The Button Doncaster 14:40 - (If you abbreviate the name of the course, please use the first 4 letters)
EW horse racing bets will be settled as follows:
2-4 runners; no place betting allowed
5-7 runners; 1st and 2nd one quarter the odds
8-11 runner handicaps and all 8+ runner non-handicaps: 1st, 2nd and 3rd one fifth odds
Handicaps 12-15 runners; 1st, 2nd and 3rd one quarter odds
Handicaps 16+ runners; 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th one quarter odds
7. Race results - these will be entered into a spread sheet at the end of each day. The spread sheet will be uploaded for competitors to view.
8. The entrant who made the most profit on a single WINNING selection throughout the competition will receive a bonus of £100, which will be added to their virtual Bank on 10th Nov 2012.
9. The winner will be the entrant with the highest Bank on the last day of the competition. In the event of there being a tie for any of the prizes, the entrant who made the most profit on a single selection will be declared the winner. In the event of there still being a tie, the entrant who has the highest Strike Rate (SR%) will be deemed the winner. In the unlikely event of there still being a tie, a winner will be selected at random.
10. Additional Competition Rules
• Non-runners do not count as a selection. Replacement horses may be posted for non-runners.
• A horse may be DELETED up to 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the selection's race
• If applicable, industry Dead Heat Rules will apply
• If applicable, industry Rule 4 will apply to Starting Prices
• First past the post winners who are subsequently demoted will be treated as losing selections

Re: Flat Racing Competition 2012
Bob,
It is up to you as to what you think is best
We could carry on or due to the lack of interest cancel the competition, entirely up to you ?

Re: Flat Racing Competition 2012
Lofty,
I think, due to the lack of interest, that we should cancel this competition. Not much point in just the two of us taking part.
