    National Hunt Tipster Competition 2011/2012

We will be running a National Hunt Tipster Competition for the 2011/2012 season. The competition will run from 05 Nov 2011 until the Bet365 Gold Cup day at Sandown on Saturday, 28 Apr 2012.

There will be an entrance fee of £10. This is to discourage time-wasters and to make the competition more interesting!

To declare your interest in this competition, please use the Poll above

    RULES:

    1. The competition will commence on Sat, 05 Nov 2011 and end on Sat, 28 Apr 2012 at the conclusion of the Sandown bet365 Gold Cup Easter Festival.

    2. The competition is open to all members of the Forum. Your objective is to make the most profit during the competition.

    3. Once entered into the competition, an entrant can select up to, and no more than, 176 selections, entered in any UK National Hunt race. This equates to one horse a day over the period of the competition. If you haven't used all your 176 selections before the end of the competition £10 will be deducted from your Bank for every selection you fail to make.

    4. Each competitor will be given a theoretical Bank of £1,000. Each time you make a selection, it will carry a virtual stake of £10. When placing a bet you can select from two available pricing options - the price the selection opens at (OP) OR the Starting Price (SP). Each Way bets will be settled at £5 for a win and £5 for a place.

    5. The selections must be posted in an unedited post at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the event (the events local time). A horse may be DELETED up to 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the selection's race.

    6. Naps. You may declare up to 25 Naps throughout the competition. This means that a horse declared as a Nap will have a stake of £20 placed on it. Posts should be made as shown:

    Sat 2 April
NAP: (OP or SP) Push The Button Doncaster 14:40 - (If you abbreviate the name of the course, please use the first 4 letters)

    7. Each Way Bets: You may declare up to a total of 50 EW bets throughout the competition. Posts should be made as shown:

    Sat 2 April
EW: (OP or SP) Push The Button Doncaster 14:40 - (If you abbreviate the name of the course, please use the first 4 letters)

    Each Way Betting Rules:

EW bets will be determined by the number of horses coming 'under starter's orders' and not by the number of declared runners.

To indicate the bet is an EW bet, add it before the horse's name: (EW) Shrewd Investment. An EW bet will consist of two bets of £5, a win and a place - total £10.

Each way bets will be settled as follows:

    Non-Handicap Races

    2 - 4 Runners Win Only
    5 - 7 Runners 1/4 the Odds 1, 2
    8 or more Runners 1/5 the Odds 1, 2, 3

    Handicap Races

    2 - 4 Runners Win Only
    5 - 7 Runners 1/4 the Odds 1, 2
    8 - 11 Runners 1/5 the Odds 1, 2, 3
    12 - 15 Runners 1/4 the Odds 1, 2, 3
    16 or more Runners 1/4 the Odds 1, 2, 3, 4

    8. Race results - these will be entered into a spreadsheet at the end of each day. It will be uploaded every day for competitors to view.

    9. The entrant who makes the most profit on a single winning selection will receive a bonus of £100. This will be added to their virtual Bank on 28 Apr 2012.

    10. The winner will be the entrant who has made the most profit by the last day of the competition. In the event of there being a tie for any of the prizes, the entrant who made the most profit on a single selection will be declared the winner.

    11. In the event of there still being a tie, the entrant who has the highest Strike Rate (SR%) will be deemed the winner. In the unlikely event of there still being a tie, a winner will be selected at random.

    Additional Rules
    • Non-runners do not count as a selection. Replacement horses may be posted for non-runners
    • A horse may be DELETED up to 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the selection's race
    • Non-runners do not count as a selection. Replacement horses may be posted for non-runners
    • If applicable, industry Dead Heat Rules will apply
    • If applicable, industry Rule 4 will apply to Starting Prices
    • First past the post winners who are subsequently demoted will be treated as losing selections
    • Cheating - In the event of a player attempting to circumvent the rules of the competition in any way, including the use of multiple user names then that person will forfeit any prize money due and will also not be permitted re-entry to any competitions run in conjunction with www.rwf-forum.co.uk
    • Appeals - In the event of a player disputing the settlement of any bets they should send me an email as soon as possible providing details on the issue giving rise to their dispute. Appeals should be sent to me at webmaster@rwf-forum.co.uk
    • Fair Play - in the event of a dispute arising, or event not covered within the above rules I reserve the right as game administration to make such decisions which I consider fit having regard to the general principles of fair play. In such case, and time permitting I shall also seek the views of a wide cross section of users.

Re: National Hunt Tipster Competition 2011/2012

Although jumps meetings are held year-round, the season proper lasts from mid-October to the end of April. The Charlie Hall Chase takes place between late October and early November, and gets the National Hunt Horse Racing season into full swing. Because it has already been run this year, I though, "what's the point in waiting until Mon!" Attachment 2558

In future we will start the competition on the day that the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby is run with the Attheraces Gold Cup (Sandown) providing a fitting finale in April. The Charlie Hall Chase is due to be run on 28th October 2012.

You will notice that I have added two additional stats to the NH Spreadsheet. They are your longest losing run and your longest winning run.
