    Rwfca newsletter - "the flash"

Dewi Bebb, in response to the hread 'How can we ensure that the annual reunion remains a first class event’ posted the following comments:

'"Seeing we have lost our regimental magazine why not start one for the RWFCA and call it (THE FLASH) and each branch can subscribe to it with there branch events and any other info they would like to share."

I have had a good look at the possibility of producing a newsletter and I believe that it can be done, via the Forum. A newsletter has been produced via the Forum on an Annual Basis from the L of F team, and I have attached a copy for members to see what can be produced, (Adobe will be required to read the attachment).

    Newsletter Jan 2010.pdf

The production of a newsletter using the Forum will not involve any cash injection from the RWFCA or the Forum, as all can be done via Microsoft using The Office/Publishing screens. Manpower wise all it would involve is a coordinator and an editor and of course Branch Secretaries/Individuals who will supply the information.

Regarding the information that will be needed to produce the Newsletter, this will be down to the individual/Branch Secretaries to supply to the coordinator via email or letter/file. Once received the coordinator would put together all information and once completed all passed to the editor to be checked and then issued out as the newsletter on the Forum.

To progress this idea further, it will need the support of members of the RWFCA/Forum. If the idea is supported by the majority, the idea will be taken up and other matters will be done.

I have attached a Poll to the thread, which will remain open for 2 weeks, as to whether we have the Newsletter or not.

It is now down to RWFCA/Forum members to decide if they want the Newsletter or not.

    Roger

The Poll regarding the creation of a RWFCA Newsletter has now closed, and the result is a vote of 25 for and 1 against.

This now means that the creation of the Newsletter can go forward.

    Roger,
This is great but can I ask if we are to encourage members to write-up articles and send in photo's for the on line magazine why is it an annual periodical? This should be at least a quarterly exercise to make it relevant some of the stories will be 12 months old before they are seen and we don't need that if we are trying to encourage more participation......what does everyone think?

"Re: Aberystwyth Branch Newsletter No. 8

    Thanks.

That was good reading. Do the other branches of the Comrades post their Newsletters on the forum?

It would be nice to see them, as some forum members, like myself are not affiliated to a branch and of course the boys in the CP world are away, and it would be nice to see how the branches are doing".

This is a thread that I created on 21 Nov 08.

    Paul

I believe that we have a quarterly newsletter, and any urgent matters to be posted as a weekly or monthly item. I also believe that branch secretaries communicate items to the editorial team in a timely manner.

Regarding publication of the newsletter, I believe that the newsletter is published on the Forum, with a copy being emailed to Branch Secs and to individuals if they wish to receive the newsletter. Likewise, branch secs and individuals can contact the editorial staff direct and pass info over.

Anyway, thats me for now, if any further comments, good or bad are to be made, please free to do so.
