    WO2 Ralph Davies 28

I had the honour of Ralph being my first platoon sergeant when I joined the Battalion in Minden in 1966 and was posted to the Signals Platoon. He taught me much and I was proud to learn from him. He was also my CSM in Tidworth during my time with the Recce/Vigilant PlatoonRalph was a hugely popular figure and a natural leader in every way. A man of much charm, wit and funny in every way. He was also a fine soldier too and, in my eyes, one of the most professional I have known. He was the very epitome of a Royal Welch soldier: compassionate to all and unswervingly loyal to his friends. Many a time he demonstrated this by his willingness to go the extra mile, regardless of the situation.

My thoughts go out to his family that are left behind at this sad time. Farewell my friend.
