If you tell what battalion he served with we may be able to help more. With his North Africa and Italy service it does not sound as if he served with any of the regular battalions of the RWF.

Sounds like he was in the RWF Para Bn, I forget which one that was. It was converted from a TF Bn, if I'm not mistaken.

Swiper would know, I'm sure. He is our resident WW2 expert. And I think it was also mentioned in a previous research thread.

from what i can make out from his service records when he enlisted it was in the 11th hdb shrewsbury . Then i think it says 70 bn which i take is 70th battalion .then it says 11centre ,5centre ,506 coy ,39 coy, x11 list and finally 5 coy ,baor .
its quite hard to understand some of the writing if you can shed some light on this info iwould be grateful

Hi Les, Does it mention RWF in his service Records?

I'm wondering if he was one of the RWF Anti-Tank/Arty Battalions. I have a feeling one of those fought in North Africa, having started off as RWF, then got subsumed into the R. Artillery? Can anyone find a likely candidate in Red Dragon?

See the Capt Cochran thread I mentioned, Al. It's all there. Some notes on 76 ATR at Alamein by myself, fine summary of its entire history by Don.
