Veterans salute
Fallen comrades were remembered when ex-soldiers from Swansea and Carmarthen visited the Royal Welch Fusiliers monument in northern France.Members of the Royal welch comrades association visited the Bethune region. Poppy wreaths were placed at the St Vennant momument on behalf of the Royal Welch Fusiliers comrades Association branches.Some 243 Royal Welch Fusiliers, who were killed between may 25 and june 1 , 1940 during the retreat to dunkirk, were remembered.The veterans visited the communal cemetery in St venant where remembrance crosses were placed at the graves of 10 Royal Welch Fusiliers who had died in the first world war .A further 31 Royal Welch Fusiliers were killed in the world war 2. This was the twelfth annual visit , organised by the Swansea Branch of the RWF comrades Association.
