    Up to Mametz - Updated

    Just a heads up.

An updated edition of the Great War classic " Up to Mametz" will be published in the autumn. Edited by Gen Riley, it will include 4 new chapters. As seen with the updates to OSND and Soldier Sahib, hopefully it will enhance the book. It will be published by Pen & Sword.

    More details to follow.

I remember a poem about 2 pals talking about the General they saw prior to going up to Memetz Wood.

"He's a cheery old card", said Harry to Jack, but he did for them both with his plan of attack.

    Hello Nasher,
That part of the poem you quoted was written by Lt Siegfreid Sassoon who served in the 2nd battalion RWF with capt Graves, Frank Richards and Bernard Adams who wrote "Nothing of Importance"What a galaxy of authors the 2nd turned out.

    Hello,
Re my last post re Sassoon. I placed Adams as an author in with members of the 2nd Battalion RWF. He served in the 1st Battalion RWF,I also forgot to mention the 2nd's medical officer Capt D. J. C. Dunn who wrote T.W.T.I.K I can only blame pressure of work. I am indebted to Dr J Krinjen for correcting my error in a personal e mail. Thank you John very nicely phrased
