Bridgend
Hello All,
I have been asked by Mike a forum member to show some old photos of the RWF band in previous years. I have a photo taken in 1783 of the Goat and Goat Major plus a photo of the Drum Major and Goat Major and Goat from the Boer war. My son has also placed a couple post cards from the Great War showing a German company advertising biscuits.I have about 200 more Great War post cards to place on my web site.I also have just added some new photos of Frank Richards lodging houses. Plus photos of the Boxer rebellion an action that the Royal Welch Fusiliers took part in.These can be found on my web site at bridgend rwf.co.uk
Hope former members of the band may be interested.
Regards RBD

Re: Bridgend
Hi Don
Can I be cheeky?
I'm compiling a history of the RWF Band's and any photographic evidence would be grately appreciated. Of course when the tome is published those who have contributed will be acknowledged. I would appreciate it if you could email any images/photo's you may have to my email address.
Regards
Hingey

Re: Bridgend
I don't know your email address, but you can copy these from here anyway, plus they may be of interest generally.
The father of a woman (Wendy) that once worked for me was a RWF goat major - you may recognise one of the photos taken with Churchill from a RWF booklet, well, she has the original of that photo (this is a smaller copy) - signed by Churchill!!
The photo above that shows the pioneers, maybe with the corps of drums or even a band behind them, I don't know - marching through this village - Angmering! The Regiment had a company or a detachment here during the war - many still remember them! That's how Wendy's Dad met her mum. One old guy is always telling me a story of how a 'Lt Hughes' got bladdered one night and took some pot shots at the church bells!
The Londonderry one (Shipquay place) was a freedom parade for Montgomery - and there are many more photos - Wendy has the booklet - but they need re-scanning (as you can tell!)
Working for yourself is great, not only can you work half days, you can choose which 12 hours!
