CSM Robert Smith - Awards
How would I find out the circumstances why CSM R Smith was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal 17 December 1917 in Egypt and "Mentioned in Dispatches" 1 March 1917. I have checked out the London Gazette entry in respect of his MSM but no reason was given for the award.
Thanks,
Brian

Re: CSM Robert Smith - Awards
Hi Brian
You are unlikely to find out why he got either the MSM or the MiD I am sorry to say. Neither citations were published so unless they are specifically mentioned elsewhere you are going to struggle.
I have had a dig around but can't add anything further to what I have already.

Thanks Richard.
I have uploaded his full military history 1897 -1919 to "The Vault". Please let me know if I have missed anything relating to the RWF.
