    Alma Day

Just a quick note on how the events of Alama Day went within the Battalion:

It was an early rise for all Officers and SNCO`s, and all met up at their relevent Company lines to be met by the coy`s CQMS with the good old tradition of gun fire to the lads in thier bunks. Then it was all to breakfast to be joined by the Colonel of the Regiment, after breakfast it was drill reharsal with the RSM to get ready for the parade down happy valley.
Meanwhile happy valley was getting set up by the RQ and his fatigue party, with the Drumhead service, the marque for the cricket and the BBQ area.
At 0950hrs the troops arrived and marched on to the sqaure under the direction of the RSM, then the guests arrived including the Colonel of the Regiment then the Colours marched on, a service was held under Padre Mills the regimental Padre, then the colour party marched of with the colours.
Once all the formalities were over it was back to camp to get changed and get ready for the cricket match between the Officers Mess against the SNCOs and below, with the Officers mess being so confident of a win. The first ball was bowled around 1300hrs to the Officers and after 20 overs their score was 80 for all. So it was the SNCOs and belows turn at the start we were a bit shaky but pulled a magnificent win, they weren`t happy.
That evening it was the Regimental Dinner for all Officers and SNCOs in the Sgts mess. The night went well and with good readings from both messes to celebrate the Battle of ALMA.
