Pass out Parade ITC Catterick Fri 20 Feb 09
On Friday 20 February 09, a Pass out Parade was held at ITC Catterick. The inspecting Officer was Lt Col Swift CO 2 R WELSH.
19 soldiers passed out into the Regiment. The breakdown is as follows;
7 soldiers to 1 R WELSH
12 soldiers to 2 R WELSH

Thanks for the Info. and good news for The Royal Welsh, Lt Col Swift was C.O. 1st R.W.F. in the Sixties, obviously not the same one but is he related to the C.O. 2 R Welsh that you mentiond?

I just had a look at the figures that you have posted for the 3 P of P that you have posted (17 Oct, 6 and 20 Feb), and I have found that 65% of the recruits have gone to the 2nd Bn.
Is it the norm for more recruits to be sent to an Armoured Bn or is it it one off's to make up the Bn strength?

The ideal breakdown is a 40/60 split, with 2 R WELSH recieving the most soldiers because of their armoured role. As an armoured Battalion your manning goes up by 100 to 150 soldiers.
However it is commonly agreed that this figure can change either way due to operational requirements of either Battalion.
