Shornecliffe Barracks
Can anyone tell me if there is another barracks named Shorncliffe where the 23rd were statoned?
The only one I know of is Folkestone Kent.

That's the only one I've heard of. It was Sir John Moore Barracks, I was a Junior Leader there.

Re: Shornecliffe Barracks
Currently, within Shorncliffe Garrison, there are 4 barracks. They are:
1. St John Moore, ex Jn Bn - now occupied by an inf bn
2. Risborough Barracks, used for TA/RAF visits and cadre training
3. Napier Barracks, training barracks, used by op companies fm Lydd, TA and cadets
4. St Martins Plain, used by training units, TA and cadets.
There have been other barracks, names I do not know

Re: Shornecliffe Barracks
Many thanks,
funny how things work out, I have stayed on visits to my sister who lives on the edge of the barracks without knowing My Gt Grandfather was once there.
Thanks again,
Mike

Does your sister still live in the area?
Re Shorncliffe, I have found a site that I will investigate, and if it one that is not mentioned above, I will come back to you.

Yes she is still there but is rather frail now.I visit her as often as possible and quite often pass the barracks after taking her to do a big shop.

Re: Shornecliffe Barracks
The site that I found I have had a look at, it is now part of a housing estate, so no go there.
