My father Alan Spooner served with 1st BN RWF from 1953 - 1956, he is from London and joined to follow his friends into the band. However as soon as he joined up, the twins were posted within the 2nd BN and he never saw them again!
He travelled to Germany, Monaco, Jamaica and served in Wrexham too but alas when he left (for reasons unknown to me) never kept in touch with any of his colleagues.
A few months ago I joined this forum in an effort to see if I could trace any of my Fathers ex chums. I sent out several emails to elder members of the site and to my delight last week, I had a responce from 'Jake' (John) Nunney who served with and remembers my Dad. I emailed Jake only to find out that he is in America, we discussed several members of the Band that they served together in and this Tuesday (24th Nov) Jake and my dad spoke on the phone after 52 years!
Jake and some others are travelling to Wrexham next September for the reunion, where my Dad will attend his for his first time.
Both My Mum and Dad are thoroughly thrilled with what I have done and can't wait for next year.
