Hi Gerry the first you mention is the 14 15 star, if he was awarded that, then he should also have the War and Victory Medal. The War Medal was generally sold off by the recipient post war as the value of the silver it contained was greater than the intrinsic value. As for the second one the only medal I can think of with both Edward and Alexandra on was the coronation medal but the wording is wrong. A photo of both back and front would be helpful.
If you want you can log onto the national archives site and pay for his medal index card and that will show his entitlement.
Some members of the forum may be able to do that gratis for you.

Garry, here is the link where you can download your grandfathers medal index card for 2£. Unfortunately it is not on Ancestry, or it could be had without cost. I also checked for Pension or Service record, but no luck there either. Though Ancestry has not uploaded surnames after N yet, so it may still be in the part that survived the Luftwaffe raid that destroyed a large part of the records,

A warm welcome to the forum!

    Welcome Garry,

The Boer War medal is a City Of Birmingham Tribute Medal. I'm assuming it was funded by the city council, and presented to local soldiers who served in S. Africa.

A pic of the medal is attached.

    Re: Newbie looking for pointers

The only thing I have in my database about Potter, is that he also served with the Army Service Corps (service number M/376178 & 5554)

I have checked the RWF Roll for the Queens South Africa Medal and there are no potters listed.

Kev is right that at least two medals are missing from the Star.
