I was looking through the history of the Royal Welch and I camer upon a piece related to Bill and the Cheshire County Council.

The piece is about the arrival of Billy at The Dale. The lionk to the piece is:

I think its the first time i've ever seen a news article that has got the name of the regiment and the role and title of the Reg Goat correct.

Im not turning this intpo a political fights, but is it still the same today as it was in our day, Billy is a member of Bn, where Taffy is a mascot?

I'm sure it is still the same as when we were in but I know theyre changing the dress of him ie: think he now wears a coat, not sure about the silver head piece presented by Lichfield or the Breast plate.
Cab the Goat Major or anyone in the know, let us know please.

Totally agree with Rog and Dai on this one. The goat in my day was the Regimental Goat and the other one was Taffy the mascot. Can anyone say if there are differences in goats between the 1st and 2nd Btns today?

'Billy' and the Goat Major will be based on the RRW model (he will wear a coat). The headpiece and breast plate will continue to be worn by the First Battalion Goat (the previous Sovereign's headplates are still proudly displayed in the Officers' Mess).

I believe the new dress policy will not happen until the presentation of new Colours (not before 2010).

Will the uniform of the Goat Majors be the same fdor both Bn's or will each Bn Goat Major have their own dress?

its a small world inded, y`day a member of the GB club Minden told me he sang in the choir at the Wales-South Africa rugby at the Millennium Stadium and the Band 1st Royal Welsh were there with Billy the goat. He told me all about the game and the photos I`ll see next week. Unfortunately I could`nt answer his questions reference Billy. As a member of the Battalion what rank does he hold and how many Regimental goats has the Battalion had ?

The Goat's and Goat Major's will all be dressed the same for the 3 Battalion's, less the small items such as the head plate, etc.
