Veterans Day, Caernarfon, Sat 5 July

There was a good turnout in Caernarfon by RWF Comrades at last years Veterans day Parade, As I have mentioned on the Forum in the past, the Ex- Service Club will be running the tented Bar this year, (last year a private firm ran the bar charging £3 to £4 a bottle) the price per pint this year will be £2.50 and Spirits at £1.50 a go, Buffet in the castle will be £5.00 by voucher only and I have been adviced by Mr Tony Williams, one of the organisers, that there is a limited number of vouchers available, if you are interested you can phone Tony on 07795220268, Tony will gladly answer and advice any query that you have. The Band of the Royal Marines will be in attendance again this year. Entry to the Castle for the drumhead service is free but limited spaces, Hope to see a lot of old friends again this year.

    Brian.

Thank you Glen, that report was very useful to all that could not attend. I was on my way back to home location from County Cork Ireland, having completed my recce in locating the grave of Maj Compton-Smith DSO.
    Regards
    Glyn.

We had a Lt Compton Smith (AAC) as Pl comd of 11pl during the 81 tour of Belfast, I take it he was a relative & thats why he landed a stint with us ??

    My Dear Richie,
It’s very unlikely that the Officer from AAC, attached to the Bn in 1981 is a relative of the Late Major G L Compton-Smith DSO. I will however find out through G L grandson who is living in Bristol and come back to you.
    Regards
    Glyn
