Invitation to Regiments' Association
Approximately 10 weeks have passed since two of our nation's finest regiments (The Royal Welch Fusiliers and The Royal Regiment of Wales), merged to become the 1st and 2nd battalions The Royal Welsh Regiment.
On the Merge Parade on March 1, were comrades from both former regiments, and rightly so, dressed in their own regimental dress code.
In Cardiff the Comrades associations have yet to merge to become one association.
Presently, no date has been arranged for this to take place, although it is inevitable that this will occur in the foreseeable future.
Until then the City of Cardiff branch, Royal Regiment of Wales, Comrades Association still meet monthly at Maindy Barracks, and invite all members of the new or former regiments to come along and see for themselves that old soldiers really do never die. Our current membership is close to 100 with a good 60-70 per cent attendance.
For further information give me a call Jeff Condon (Branch Secretary) on 029 2030 7700.
We look forward to hearing and hopefully seeing you at our future meetings.

Re: Invitation to Regiments' Association
Hello Bob,
On Our April branch meeting we invited Major Hooley and officers of the Bridgend branch of the 24th/41st to our meeting after our branch business had been conducted. We had an open and frank discussion and cleared the air a bit. Both the Bridgend and Pontypridd branch of the 24th/ 41st are attending our social evening on this coming Friday(19th).I have about 170 members and their wives attending including the RWF branches that kindly accepted my invitation (1RWF branch never even answered my invitation and a further two declined) So we are going in at the deep end possibly????
Regards to all RBD aka "Don"

Re: Invitation to Regiments' Association
It will take time for the merger to settle down and for everyone to understand the changes. I am going to Cardiff this year for the 24/41st Reunion in July, and I'm told that former RWF are included - if they wish to do so - however, it's only something I've seen on the website pages. Having lived in exile from Associations/Branches for more years than I should have done, I am looking forward to going to this year's reunion. We are all ex-servicemen, proud of what we did, the units we served with and all still have the wonderful memories of the length of time we served. I have the greatest admiration for those that run the websites, which allow people like me to keep in touch.
Best Wishes to one and all
Ianto

Re: Invitation to Regiments' Association
Don,
Apologies; I should have posted the source of this invitation. The invitation wasn't issued by me; it was an open invitation, published in the South Wales Echo on Tuesday, 16 May 2006
