    On Line Hackers "Contact List"

It appears I well my Contact list from my E-Mail account has been lifted and used to send advertisements for various items to all on the list, many of them Forum Members so I apologize that they lifted it and you recived doggy mail.

At the same time I was unaware of this action until I received mail delivery failure from old addresses and to be quite honest I am not sure how I could of prevented it occurring.

    Happy days

    Barry

    Barry,

It sounds like you have a virus this sort is very common. To prevent it keep your Anti-Virus up to date (AVG free is very good if you don’t have any, if you need a link I can provide one). Its also a good idea to have a firewall, the one supplied with Windows XP and Vista is OK but you are better off using something like ZoneAlarm (again they do a free version for home users) as hackers hate everything Microsoft.

Another approach is not to use Outlook for email, use one of the web-based systems because they provide mail screening and virus checking on-line as part of their service.

To remove annoying pop-ups and ads you can install AdAware, this is also free. The companies supplying these utilities for free make their money from advertising space and the hope that people recommend their product at work and buy the full version.

If I'm teaching you to suck eggs here, sorry.

    John
