Sniper one by Sgt Dan Mills

Just read this book Sniper One a true story of a battle group of THE PRINCE OF WALES ROYAL REGIMENT in Iraq's Al Amarah. The ROYAL WELCH FUSILIARS are mentioned a few times in the book so they must have had a posting there at the same time. A first class read of what they went through. I highly recomend it.

A Coy 1RWF played a full part in those operations. Indeed their company commander during that period is an active member of the forum.

A Coy get a mention in their other book, Dusty Warriors. In fact the only pity about the book in relation to A Coy, was the lack of story's that weren't published, however if you give the 2 Gregg's a call they will fill you in, along with the other lads who where there.

The CO 1 PWRR called us his trusted company, which was actually quite moving as it was in front of the whole Battle Group on our decompression. Which apparently was not the opinion of the 1 RWF Bn at the time of sending us, (However that will attract some good comment's up on here) and as I'm a civilian, it does not bother me in one way Ha Ha.

Home in 3 days and so looking forward to the wind and rain, along with the early Xmas shopping.

    Stay safe every 1

Oh yes, I will comment on that rob, seeing as I'm a civilian now 2, as soon as A coy were away preparing and training to deploy with the PWRR and the CO 1 RWF had just welcomed the PWRR Coy to the Bn in the Training Wing saying Ive got rid of my bad Coy to your regiment so welcome. Now fancy saying that any way but in front of me at the time just left A Coy CSM to take over RQMS (M) and a bloke who had served at every rank from Fus to W02 In No 1 Coy. The miss givings with A Coy at the time lay with the Bn Head Quarters especially to do with manning in Canada which was the preparation training. No disrespect to any one from A Coy reading this, but at the time we had a new Coy Comd, A new 2IC, 2 new Pl Comds, 1 Pl Sgt, and only 1 junior NCO in the Coy who was Brecon trained. Despite my pleas they fell on deaf ears (we all know who deals with manning for the Coy's no names) compared to B Coy for instance who had 7 JNCO's Brecon trained at the time. I could go on about it all night but don't need to. The lads from A Coy have always produced the goods even when the chips are down in good Royal Welch Fashion. My one regret in my military career was taking a bone job like RQMS when i should have been in the thick of it with the boys of Alphas.
