Re: Comrades- Friday/Saturday nights jottings
On reflection, I think the Saturday evening, was possibly one of the best Comrades nights I've spent. There was definitely a buzz about the evening, and it spanned generations, and included some of the younger guys....really outstanding night. I never made it to the BKs....MIA...What was that like?

Re: Comrades- Friday/Saturday nights jottings
My first reunion [ only waited 22 years ] myself and Nobby Clarke had a great time !Started off in the fusilier, met up with Johney Hood, charlie 41 and Cider visited lots of pubs and ended up in the barracks for a last drink along the way. Met loads of people from the past -Too many to mention! Ended up taking Dai Hood and someone else back to Flint and me and Nobby back to Rhyl, arrived home at 6.45am! Completley knackerd!!
Can't wait till the next one.....!
PS Photos taken but still trying to find out how to put on the forum.

Re: Comrades- Friday/Saturday nights jottings
Just a few lines on the saturday
My 1st comrades and i arrived late [ work stuff ] i made it to the cambrain outside roy price and john rickard looked like 2 gunfighters in a german brothel. Inside every size and shape you could imagine , officers / men and wasters like myself all mixed in one room , benny nash holding the wall up by the bogs , trav lookin like a dog on heat , hayess looked like kojak , steve paultie looked like rambo [ or somthing like that ] most of the real nutters of the night are now police men so i won't mention any names there [ sid / scouse]. But the thing i liked the most was the whole energy of the night , we may have looked like a bunch of misfits , but at some stage of our lives we had all done some time as being a squaddie , And as i stood next to roy price and this big bird came and asked us abount our ties , the reply was ''we were in the same school'' , and in a roundabount way i suppose we were

Great pictures, it's a shame that viewing them on a computer seems to widen a persons figure & grey their hair.... thanks to all for cracking Sat night.

Re: Comrades- Friday/Saturday nights jottings
Well, I've been back to work today, and it was quite obvious I had forgotten an old Army adage....'Just cos You cant see the enemy, it doesn't mean they can't see you!" Oh how my colleagues laughed as they reminded me of the state of us all outside the Fusilier, Bloody CCTV!! However, there is apparantly still no evidence available of Sid Burns(Larry's brother!!!) buying a round.
Sid and I were necky enough though to remind General Riley that he earned loads loads more than us, and in fairness, he did go to the bar for us! I can't believe Sid asked the General to get him some fags as well though!! He was promptly told to Foxtrot Oscar though!! Congratulations must go to Al Poole for being the only one to turn up in fancy dress! He came as a potential Officer, wearing a tweed shirt, **** shoes and cords. Nice one Al.
Today, I sent my probationer to the Cambrian pub to seize their CCTV tapes from Saturday night, so you can all sleep easy, I think the tapes may get lost somewhere between my office and the video store!! There is no way Im allowing the landlord to hold me to ransom with some unsavoury and questionable CCTV evidence!
As led has stated in his post, there are far too many people to mention individually, but it was fantastic the way everyone mingled, both young and old. All safe in the knowledge that if you were on the floor at the end of the night, there were enough Regi Ties about to pick you up. As we did for one of the old and bold outside the Barracks on Saturday night. Not sure where we put him in a taxi to, but I think it was better than sleeping outside Hightown flats!! (Cheers Bri Taylor/Al 50 and wives).
It was great to meet friends old and new, and cannot wait for next year. Sid says he is already putting 8 pence aside weekly for it!!
