Reaffirmation of the Freedom of Wrexham and the 100th Anniversary of the RWFCA (Wrexham) - Saturday 7th September 2024

On Saturday 7th September 2024, Welsh Warriors from all generations gathered in Wrexham for the Reunion North to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Royal Welch Fusiliers Comrades Association.

The celebrations began with Delta Company of the 1st Battalion exercising the Freedom of the City, led by the Band and Corps of Drums of The Royal Welsh. A large contingent of cadets from Clwyd and Gwynedd ACF participated, along with over 100 veterans of the Royal Welch Fusiliers on parade, proudly displaying their standards, accompanied by the association’s Corps of Drums.

The parade was observed by the Lady Mayor, local VIPs, and our Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Barry CBE. In his speech, he not only emphasised the importance of the city to the Regiment but also underscored the significance of our comrades and expressed pride in the Regiment's history and traditions, which continue to be carried forward from the Royal Welch Fusiliers to this day.

Next years' Regimental Reunion North will take place in Wrexham on 6th September 2025. While it may not be on the same scale, RHQ hopes it will serve as a focal point in North Wales for all members of The Royal Welsh Regimental Family, both serving and retired, to come together, remember those we have lost, and celebrate our camaraderie. RHQ will share further plans for 2025 in the coming weeks and months.
