It is with deep sadness that we must report the passing of David Davies 40.

Dai 40 as he was known, served from the mid-1970s with the RWF Band firstly as a French Horn player then following a further course at the Royal Military School of Music Kneller Hall as an oboe player, an instrument he excelled in playing he also became the Band’s Bass Drummer on parade.

Dai was a Senior Rank in the Band and following the disbandment of the Line Bands, David was approached to transfer to the Army Air Corp Staff Band as their Band Sergeant Major. On his retirement he continued to play and teach and settled back in his hometown of Merthyr Tydfil.

Dai is survived by Denise his wife and children Natasha, Craig and Rhi.
