    Fix Bayonets

Another well researched and documented book by Donald E Greaves : Fix Bayonets A Royal Welch Fusilier at War 1796 to 1815. The life of Thomas Pearson, commissioned into the 23rd Regiment of Foot in 1796. Whose service in the Regiment spanned nearly 47 years, fought on 3 Continents, wounded 5 times and achieve the rank of general. This book follows his service with the regiment through Egypt, Netherlands, West Indies, Spain, North America.
A real insight into the evolution of the Regiment.

Talking of bayonets, you must have to be really “close up and personal” to achieve dominance with a bayonet now days; on the end of a SA80? We were lucky years ago with the SLR at least you were four foot or so to do the same.

That must have been the up grade on the P1 907 bayonet ( 17 inches ) which was issued with the SMLE WW1 and WW2. One is showing one's age Ha Ha.
Happy New Year to you and your family, Stay Safe.
