Re-Union 2009 Comrades' Shooting Competition
Well Gentlemen the shooting cups have now gone back to RHQ Wrexham to get polished for this year's competition. All branches will be glad to know that the "glorious Shotton and Deeside branch RWFCA" will not be entering the team or individual competitions this year because Mr Alan Thomas Individual winner last year can't make the reunion, work commitments and our team has split up do to the death of our branch president and other team members who can't make the reunion for various reasons, (We don't use "ringers" like some branches) and I the one and only is heavly involved with the standard bearers competition and parade.
So gents its anyone's this year, good luck to all teams entering (we'll be back with a vengence next year)
It will be a great weekend again, see you all there.
Best Regards
Benny Ball
Hon Secretary
Shotton and Deeside Branch RWFCA

Re: Re-Union 2009 Comrades' Shooting Competition
Benny
As ever, you see the Shooting Comp through a particular dodgy pair of glasses you picked up on one of those RQ courses you've attended!
Of course your memory is not quite what it was, but just to refresh it if I may? 2006 and 07 saw the majority of the trophies going West to Aberystwyth, is that not correct Benny?
I'm sure that the competition will be as keen this year as it's always has been and let the best shot(s)take the trophies. As long as they come back to Aber!!!!
Getting excited now,I've even started packing only to shut Shirley up! Ha Ha

Gentlemen
It looks like the "Guantlet" has been thrown down once again. Watch out Saturday morning things might change course?
Paul H and Paul 01 could you have taken the bait ( ask yourselves is Benny doing a bit of physcological warfare LOL!)?
Hope to see you both over the weekend and have a beer or 2?
Best Regards

Re: Re-Union 2009 Comrades' Shooting Competition
Benny forget Paul H we to have problms because our non firing captain is unavailable for this weekend and our SAM is our motivation . however if you pull a team together may the best team win ,with no rigging from the perminent staff, if you receive give my regards to ARTHUR and wish him a second happy retirement. Yours as ever sam. don't forget Aber is where the cream is...
Re: Re-Union 2009 Comrades' Shooting Competition
Individual competition went to Blackwood and Bargoed. But once again the Team comp went to ABERYSTWYTH. With that in mind I know Benny will get Shotton and Deeside members practising again for 2010 to try and wrestle the Cups away!
There we are Benny the gauntlet's been thrown down for next year!!!

Re: Re-Union 2009 Comrades' Shooting Competition
As Im posted to Queensferry, may I offer my skill at arms training to Bennys boys in order for them to regain their rightful place as top dogs in the shooting department. Foresee a reaquaintance with the marksmanship principles for some. Shotton and Deeside shall reign again. Hingey, your success will be short lived. However enjoy your success and well done.
Re: Re-Union 2009 Comrades' Shooting Competition

Re: Re-Union 2009 Comrades' Shooting Competition
Hi All
Just logged on since the reunion last weekend (had to have time to recover).
Firstly,
I'd like to take this opportunity to Thank Major Ellingham and his team for once again a well organised and enjoyable reunion.
Secondly,
Congratulations to all the shooting teams that entered this year's competition and of course to the Aberystwyth Branch for winning the team cup and also to Bargoed and Blackwood Branch for winning the Individual Cup. A big congrats goes out to all the Standard Bearers which took part in the re-introduction of the standard bearers competition again, especially to the Merthyr Branch for gaining the winner and runner up trophies, to Lawrence David for being the first secretary to have his name on the Arthur Ellingham's Branch Secretary award plate.
Lastly
Its nice to see the banter has started between the branch shooting teams for next year's competition and some have taken the "bait" already, keep it going lads/ladies.
To end on a high, I hope that everyone along with me would like to wish Arthur and Yvonne a wonderful and graceful retirement and all the best for the future. A Big Thank to you both for all the hard work and support that have given to all branches and this forum. Also to wish Col Nick Lock and all the lads/ladies in the 1st Bn a safe up and coming tour of Afghanistan. God Speed!
Best Regards to all

Re: Re-Union 2009 Comrades' Shooting Competition
Good God Benny did it take you 4 days to get back to your home...and it's just up the road from Wrexham! Or did the weekends rigours take it's toll and it's only now you've surfaced?
Seriously mate. It was a brilliant weekend there were so many of our era there which goes to show that the RWFCA can be a strong association for many years to come. It was good to see Spud Murphy after so many years and he only lives in Conahs Quay! and to see Jonny Wiseman looking a picture of health was heart warming indeed.
Has anybody else got mates who turned up either for the first time or returned after many years absence?
