The Bn football team beat 1 Scots this afternoon 4 - 0 in the Infantry Cup quarter finals. The match was played at Dale Bks. 1 R WELSH (RWF) will now play 5 Scots in the semi final down in Canterbury at 1300 hrs Thur 19 Mar.

If i had known the battalion was playing at The Dale i would have come up and watched,Vic any chance of putting future fixtures on here a few days before i think there would be forum members who would come up and watch a game,as the pitches are just situated outside the front gate,the only old head i know that still play scouse are Stevie Cowap and Dave evans 08,i hung my boots up a few years ago my last appearence being in Cyprus when they were strapped for player due to OP commitments:biglaugh:

I will advertise any future matches when the opportunity allows, it would be great for the squad to have the support they deserve. As for old heads Tony is right, the last of the old guard played yesterday Stevie and Dave 08, both had a good match and as usual both of their presences on the pitch were heard. The RSM always has his boots on standby and occasionaly because of other Bn committments has had to put them on.
Well done the football squad. Looks like 1 Scots have not recruited any International Fijians for their football team, though their Rugby team is very good.
Rumour has it that 1Scots are now setting up a recruiting office in Rio, so they can have some Brazilians playing!!

Would of loved to come to the final when the lads get there, but on a self induced long sentance this trip, not back till May.
Are the Cheshires still in and the Kingo's, or has that all changed now, they where pretty good. Remember when we beat the Cheshires in the Final at the Oval in Tidworth, great day had by all who attended, and a good headache the next morning :wub:
Think we were destined to win it that season after Keegan passed away. Do you know if his trophy is in the Dragon?.
Think that is the only time we have ever won the Infantry cup, may be wrong but there will be a spotter somewhere on the site who will inform us lol
Think we played Swansea in a Pre season friendly after that , John Hollins first game in charge that season at Chepstow.

I remember Swansea training with the battalion Rob, my mate, Steve Watkin was playing for them at the time. He said it was the hardest couple of days training he has ever had!!! The QMSI had them running in the mud flats!!
we only lost 3 nil to the swans that day thanks to our keeper staffy in the reme who made about 50 cracking saves we had a good few chances though

The final is next Wednesday at the Tidworth oval and is against Catterick. Cracking result boys well done.

Well done lads, this is the 2nd final since that impressive 3-2 win over the cheshires at Tidworth in 88. Neal the answer to your question is that we have only won the Inf Cup when we beat the cheshers but we did get to the semi final and lost to the Argylls i believe many moons ago.
Is anybody going down from the Wrexham area? Let me know as I would love to see the new generation playing.

Sadly todays result was:
1 R WELSH (RWF) 1 v 2 ITC Cattrick
After equalising to a fluke ITC Caterick goal, the Bn were by far the best side for the entire second half untill the very last kick of the game which saw ITC Cattrick score the winner.
Unlucky lads but well done for getting there in the first place
