The Bn will reform as a Battle Group after leave in Jan and will deploy to Kenya to conduct Ex GRAND PRIX, returning to the UK early Mar. As soon as the Bn returns, Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) starts with a whole series of collective training events and individual courses running through until mid-Aug. After summer leave, the Bn will start its deployment to Afghanistan with a planned return date of May 2010. I will ask Sgt Suller to post some dates from our Forecast of Events that may be of interest to Forum members.
not a problem i will publish some dates of interest when i get back to work in the new year

An article from the Flintshhire Cronicle
FLINTSHIRE County Council is to grant the Freedom of the County to the Regiment of the Royal Welsh at a special ceremony in Mold tomorrow.
The Regimental Band will lead a parade through Mold starting at 11.10am at Mold Campus followed by more than 120 soldiers who will march through Wrexham Street and High Street where the salute will be taken by the Chairman of the County Council, Councillor Quentin Dodd and the Commanding Officer Colonel Gerhard Wheeler, OBE.
Councillor Dodd, said: “I hope there will be a large turnout from the public to show their support for the Royal Welsh at this historic event.”
Earlier in the day there will be a special meeting of the County Council at County Hall when councillors will be asked to pass a formal resolution to grant the Freedom of the County to the Regiment.
Lt Col Nick Lock said: “The 1st Battalion, The Royal Welsh (The Royal Welch Fusiliers) are delighted and honoured to be receiving the Freedom of the County of Flintshire on behalf of The Royal Welsh. Mold and Flintshire have always figured greatly in the life of the 1st Battalion.”
Hi I went today to the freedom march there were 2 standard bearers there only at the parade and the cadets.
Hi yeah I can send you some pctures, they are not brilliant but best i could do as i was doing other jobs
Hi All,
Being a RWFCA Comrade, I was quite shamed to read Dai 29's comments on the forum about the 2nd Bn R Welsh Freedom of Ceredigion Parade and of the comrades' participation. Why was this not so for the 1st Bn R Welsh Freedom of Mold and Caernarfon Parades. As there was no or very few RWFCA participating in these parades.
I Know at the end of the day it has to be the wishes of the said Bn wether they would like comrades to join them on these parades and very rightly so, but was it over looked by the 1st Bn. I for one would have been proud to march with these fine men and women through our local town and not stand on the "side line" as we did in Mold on Friday last.
So before anyone get on their "soapbox" and preach to me about rules and regulations I'm only voicing my opinion, which is one of the reason this forum was set up for.
A disgrunted member and RWF Comrade

Yes Benny,
I agree with you, there was at least a "Platoon" of Royal Welch Comrades some like Rich 99, Frank Dolan and friends all the way from Wrexham, Billy Doutch from Holyhead and many more all dressed in blazers etc, well done lads, It was also nice to see so much white hackles,(Plumes) in the crowds.
As you have said Benny a shame but rules are rules.
Congratulations to the Regiment for recieving the Freedom of Caernarfon and the smart turnout and display.
Brian.
Thanks my friend looking forward to getting them for my Album.
