Comrades- Friday/Saturday nights jottings
In no particular order:
Patty 43(better half of 5haron). Last seen by me at 1900hrs, in the Wynnstay carrying a duvet he had just purchased, which he intended to sleep under.
Co 1R Welsh. had a good chat. Clearly very proud of his guys. He was telling me about an op recently involving Bravos. They used 5 leopard tanks, a B1 Bomber!!!!, the yanks even moved a satellite into position for them. During the op mortars fired over 1600 rds. keep it up lads.
CO 3 R Welsh. A Big supporter of the site(Martyn Leader). He had just been on a museum meeting. He is pushing for greater integration between us and museum. Seems sensible and joined up to me. Martyn was last seen by me at 0230hrs with his RSM(UK Sniper) heading for his hotel Bar....god help the night porter.
Faces seen:
Sid Burns(with Heidi and son Stefan), Keith Darlington, Roy Price, John Rickard, Baz Barron, Palty, Jas Saralis(jpswales), Gerry King, Mark Adams 77, Dai Vastraa, Robbie Hunt, Lyn 61(Mountain Ash sec), Rog Littlehales, Mal Ball, Taffyloonytune, Mal Owen96, Bob Bohanna, Spike Whittle, Charlie Farly(looking well fed), Steve Williams 85, Paul Butt(the golf bandito), Alun Davies 46 with Lynn, Julian Davies, Paul Dyer(with Karen and their daughter Kelly), Keith Jones 14, Mogs 14, Nebo, Rob Matthews, Vern Bohanna, Peelow, Jas Suller(Scorch), Big Bird(Boardwell), Andy Wrigley, Mac McCarton, Paul 83, Mark Hayes(Not a hair on his head!!), Denic, Eddie Ra Ra(91) and wife Tracey, Tim and AnnMarie Marshall, Billy Humphries, Dave Crimmins(RSM 1 RW), Don Butts, Colin and Doe Jones 27, Wire, Big Jeff 95(god he looks sensible.....No rhino though), Percy Hawkins, Bri Travers(with his little glasses...scary), El 37(ex Recce), Wellies.
Thats all I can remember for now. Great night, we all stayed in the Wynstay till about 10pm, then meandered to the Cambrian, followed by an all out assault on Chicago Cock(Rock)......Door staff were checking "Boys Night Out permits" and I can confirm that the "Stripper Clause" was adhered too....
Back out midday today(Sat),,,,I feel rough as hell.....its a hard life:cool:

Its the beer muscles....I withdraw the comment, you are of course "The Better Half". I suspect the tog rating was "Street Level", he looked like he had found himself a nice little spot at the the rear of the Wynnstay, underneath an air con unit.

Re: Comrades- Friday nights jottings
Saturday was just as crowded it was great to see that in true RWF tradition no matter how bad the head or stomach felt after Friday's partying, the lads still made it up to Hightown for the hair of the dog A brilliant weekend just about keeping my eyes open and the rest of me together....Don't want to show Shirley that in reality I'm suffering from my weekend of over-indulgence!!
See you all next year.........Oh by the way.....better luck next time Benny in the shooting comp....keep practicing mate!!!

Re: Comrades - Friday nights jottings
A few names from Saturday:
Pete Gauchi, Scouse Whitrow, Paul, Carl and Mike Gwylim, Clive Rees(nice to meet you Clive), Don Donovan, Shagger Jones 14, Colonel Wheeler, Billy Davies65(Tonto), Smudge 52, Topper, Dai and Johnnie Hood, Gary Blewitt, Al and Karen Hughes 50, Mike Owen72(non ginger), Bob Powell, Keith Jones 14, Vernie Gross, Debbie Roberts, Rog Snaith, Al Lowry, Angie Taylor, Dusty Miller,Tats, Mouse Adams(now living at Porthmadog)
The 2 most popular bars, appeared to be the Wynnstay and the Cambrian. In particular the Cambrian, where some serious partying took place last night hosted by 2 of North Wales finest...The sheriff of Flint(Sid Burns...brother of Larry!!), and his trusty bagman Scouse 75. I particularly enjoyed the spectacle of Scouse riding around the pool table on Sid's back shouting "Yeh Haw", whilst everyone was singing "YMCA"......nice touch lads.

Re: Comrades- Friday/Saturday nights jottings
Williams 43 reporting in for duty, got home safe and sober :swoon:
Had a really good weekend, great to see all the old faces as well as some new ones. Gutted to miss the celebrity body guards though. I was hoping to sell my story to the tabloids in return for all the times Paul Gough ripped me off.
A message to al the guys I invited over to ours: I WAS P****D!! Although if you do come over, bring your overalls and a paintbrush and you're more than welcome.
On a serious note, it was a great weekend, a real buzz and everyone felt it. Thanks and see you next year.
Patty.
p.s I have photographic evidence.

Re: Comrades- Friday/Saturday nights jottings
On reflection, I think the Saturday evening, was possibly one of the best Comrades nights I've spent. There was definitely a buzz about the evening, and it spanned generations, and included some of the younger guys....really outstanding night. I never made it to the BKs....MIA...What was that like?

Re: Comrades- Friday/Saturday nights jottings
My first reunion [ only waited 22 years ] myself and Nobby Clarke had a great time !Started off in the fusilier, met up with Johney Hood, charlie 41 and Cider visited lots of pubs and ended up in the barracks for a last drink along the way. Met loads of people from the past -Too many to mention! Ended up taking Dai Hood and someone else back to Flint and me and Nobby back to Rhyl, arrived home at 6.45am! Completley knackerd!!
Can't wait till the next one.....!
PS Photos taken but still trying to find out how to put on the forum.

Re: Comrades- Friday/Saturday nights jottings
Just a few lines on the saturday
My 1st comrades and i arrived late [ work stuff ] i made it to the cambrain outside roy price and john rickard looked like 2 gunfighters in a german brothel. Inside every size and shape you could imagine , officers / men and wasters like myself all mixed in one room , benny nash holding the wall up by the bogs , trav lookin like a dog on heat , hayess looked like kojak , steve paultie looked like rambo [ or somthing like that ] most of the real nutters of the night are now police men so i won't mention any names there [ sid / scouse]. But the thing i liked the most was the whole energy of the night , we may have looked like a bunch of misfits , but at some stage of our lives we had all done some time as being a squaddie , And as i stood next to roy price and this big bird came and asked us abount our ties , the reply was ''we were in the same school'' , and in a roundabount way i suppose we were

Re: Comrades- Friday/Saturday nights jottings
Great pictures, it's a shame that viewing them on a computer seems to widen a persons figure & grey their hair.... thanks to all for cracking Sat night.

Re: Comrades- Friday/Saturday nights jottings
Well, I've been back to work today, and it was quite obvious I had forgotten an old Army adage....'Just cos You cant see the enemy, it doesn't mean they can't see you!" Oh how my colleagues laughed as they reminded me of the state of us all outside the Fusilier, Bloody CCTV!! However, there is apparantly still no evidence available of Sid Burns(Larry's brother!!!) buying a round.
Sid and I were necky enough though to remind General Riley that he earned loads loads more than us, and in fairness, he did go to the bar for us! I can't believe Sid asked the General to get him some fags as well though!! He was promptly told to Foxtrot Oscar though!! Congratulations must go to Al Poole for being the only one to turn up in fancy dress! He came as a potential Officer, wearing a tweed shirt, **** shoes and cords. Nice one Al.
Today, I sent my probationer to the Cambrian pub to seize their CCTV tapes from Saturday night, so you can all sleep easy, I think the tapes may get lost somewhere between my office and the video store!! There is no way Im allowing the landlord to hold me to ransom with some unsavoury and questionable CCTV evidence!
As led has stated in his post, there are far too many people to mention individually, but it was fantastic the way everyone mingled, both young and old. All safe in the knowledge that if you were on the floor at the end of the night, there were enough Regi Ties about to pick you up. As we did for one of the old and bold outside the Barracks on Saturday night. Not sure where we put him in a taxi to, but I think it was better than sleeping outside Hightown flats!! (Cheers Bri Taylor/Al 50 and wives).
It was great to meet friends old and new, and cannot wait for next year. Sid says he is already putting 8 pence aside weekly for it!!

Re: Comrades- Friday/Saturday nights jottings
I'm embarrased to say that this was my first reunion, but not the last. I had a great time seeing some familiar faces from yesteryear and remebering stories from years gone by. Especially about one fusilier who had to shave his moustache because there was things crawling about in it (no names).
Anyway just to mention the Support Company reunion, please take a look on the thread.
See you next year.
Regards
Clive
