IMHO a very lucky guy,if it were not for MP's trying to score poliical points and the media making him out to be a hero he would have done the same amount of time as the mate he tried to blame it on ?
Re: Sergeant Danny Nightingale
I suppose the book will be out next.
Re: Sergeant Danny Nightingale
Saved by his wife, a very formidable woman.
Re: Sergeant Danny Nightingale
Whatever the truth of this I don't expect us to be told for a lot of years, the MOD never comments on anything involving Special Forces in any way. It would in my view be interesting to see a transcript of both court marshal,s .

Thanks mate I shall have a read later.
Re: Sergeant Danny Nightingale
Umm after reading through the summary I have come to the conclusion that a shed load of lies were told from start to finish however it would appear then Danny and soldier N more than likely conspired on this from the beginning. Just maybe there was a bit of "I will take the rap mate in this". It is of course quite correct that a member of the Armed Forces should receive a punishment for the crime in the same way a member of the general public would, there cannot and must not be seen to be any "one law for us another for them".
Re: Sergeant Danny Nightingale
There were guns found in liverpool that come from Kosova and were brought back by military people a few years back.
Re: Sergeant Danny Nightingale
There has always been guys trying to bring souvenir weapons back from various theatres I remember an AK 47 appearing in personal kit in depot a number of years ago, also a guy trying to smuggle in several thousand fags in an MFO box.
Re: Sergeant Danny Nightingale
Gun laws in this country are very strict and quite rightly so,as the guy in charge of the Court Martial said if it was not for the court of appeal he would have been sent to prison, jackanory and bedtime stories come to mind regarding his evidence, more twists and turns then the A470

But only for us non-criminals, Keith!
Re: Sergeant Danny Nightingale
I cant help but agree with that, it seems to be so easy for criminals to get weapons and after all they don't stick to any laws.
Re: Sergeant Danny Nightingale
Yes there are lots of illegal guns in this country and one would be naive to think there was not, there is not a week goes by without hearing of some person or persons being shot, but without the strict laws we have regarding illegal guns and ammo the number of gun incidents would surely rise, the crooks or gangs know if they are caught in possession it is a mandatory 5 years without parole or if they are really lucky a bullet in the head from an armed police officer,i guess we all know there are plenty of guns out there to be had for just a few quid and enough nutters to want to own and use one.
