Re: Capt Wayne Beddis (Retd)
I was hugely saddened to learn of the death of Lawson Wayne Beddis. He was a very good friend of mine. We both served in B Company together, along with another constant comrade, Preston Jones 67. Wayne was an integral part of the team and the platoon and was always up for a good laugh and a fair few beers with the boys. He had an irrepressible sense of humour. Always the first to volunteer for anything, he was one of B Company’s characters: someone who could be found at the front at work or play, and was hugely popular as a result.
Oh what fun the three of us had and what wonderful and tremendous experiences we went through together, Hong Kong in particular. He was great fun to have as a mate and I am deeply saddened that I will never again have the pleasure of his company
I can only endorse the tributes paid to him by you all. The very many people who knew him were richer for the experience, and will be all the poorer for his passing. I, for one, will continue to cherish memories of shared laughter and happiness with him.

Re: Capt Wayne Beddis (Retd)
Oh Dear, how very very sad that another Comrade has been so prematurely taken from us, indeed, not just a Comrade but good friend.
Wayne and I worked together as Coy Clerks, Orderly Room Clerks and subsequently Chief Clerks. He was unique in as much as he was good company both socially and professionally - totally avoiding talking shop over a beer. Looking back, I can't remember any occasion when he ever lost his temper or was unhelpful to those in need. It was this knack that earned respect from both his subordinates and seniors resulting in them having complete confidence in him.
His popularity and esteem are identified by the well earned tributes paid to him on this thread.
His passing has come as quite a shock as I wasn't aware that he was so ill - we were only exchanging emails back in August regarding the reunion - sadly, I didn't have the opportunity to have a beer with him over the reunion weekend which I deeply regret. I am, however, left, with very fond memories of our time together and they will be with me forever!
Deepest condolences to Anne, family, Comrades and friends from Verna and myself and all members of the London Branch RWFCA.
RIP Mate.
