Hi first post from me, basically I looking for details of my grand father who served in the First World War and was in the welsh fusiliers, I don't know anything about his war record but would like to know more, I asked my father if my granddad ever talked about his experiences in combat but he could not give me any details at all, would appreciate any details or websites to help me,

So James Thomas Harrison? The guys may need to know where he was from/Date of Birth/Place of birth, anything that will help narrow down the search. Do you have his medals or know his Army Service Number. Do you know where he served? France, Italy, Turkey etc

Could be as he made it home, never spoke of the conflict but I am very much in the dark over his service record and where he fought, any help is greatly appreciated, by the way he was from Burnley if that helps.
Got an idea he was born in 1896
He will not be James Thomas Harrison 7653 then. He was Regular Soldier enlisting 20 2 1903 aged 18. My notes state that his papers have survived and are on well known genalogical site but are out of focus. All I noted was the date enlisted and the fact it was at Burnley.

Unfortunately the Medal Index Cards do not have any other James T Harrisons, only 7653. A number would help.

Regrettably it doesn't. There is still only one James T Harrison, the 7653 Harrison mentioned before. There are some James Harrisons in the RWF, the Welsh Regiment, Scots Guards and Irish Guards but none in the Welsh Guards.

As Hywyn already said, his papers are out of focus and barely legible.

Wrexham was a large mining community. There were many men from Lancashire living in digs and working in the numerous collieries that surrounded Wrexham. We've had similar research questions involving Lancashire men who enlisted in the regiment pre-1914 in the past. What was your source for the Welsh Guards connection? The guy mentioned by B/Wallah looks a good fit, except for the age. With that in mind, I think you probably need to firm up the birth dates etc. Obtain the following Certificates:
1. Obtain your fathers birth cert. This will confirm your Grandmothers maiden name
2. Obtain your Grandparents Marriage Certificate(this is the crucial one). This will confirm the age of your grandfather at marriage, so indicate a year of birth.
This will at least confirm if he is most likely to be 7654 Harrison. At the moment the forum researchers are giving you information, but unless you research the basic stuff yourself, its all conjecture. Certainly the marriage certificate will be of interest, as it often mentions other family members.
