Re: 8 platoon C company
Hi Beano
Not C company mate, good clean living bunch of lads. And it was scotty blair pooping on siggy in his new white suit bought from the cookhouse the night before we went on our first leave if i remember right. AND gerry was there making sure we were on the square ready for the superbus. Been waiting for a long time to get rid of us so he could chill. Poor Gerry! What a man

Re: 8 platoon C company
I remember a big scrap under the gym between 7 and 9 platoons. I think that kicked off after an altercation between Benny and Tom 31 over a girl in the NCO's room. 8 platoon sort of divvied themselves down the middle. Toilet sinks full of blood afterwards.
Appalling living conditions. Low pay. Violence. the good old days. There would be a parliamentary enquiry about it these days. Times have changed I guess.
In Derry, remember sneaking off down the Fountains to a tea stop for some whiskey on New Year's Eve 1978 with Gauvain. There was hell on. I remember Paul Nash just clocking me one for it. End of story. Wouldn't happen nowadays.

Re: 8 platoon C company
I remember hiring a bus to pick us up to go to a Rinteln Disco one Saturday night. Of course it was run through the "Little Green Apple Club" that Jinx and I had founded in our ultimate wisdom. Sam Moon had organized his group "The Flowers" W*****s Anyway the bus was picking us up at 1900 hrs and we were all in the Zur Post at 1100 hrs. We all swore there would be no Alcohol until 1700 hrs? I think the first round of drinks were bought at 11:15 hrs. The next step was everyone had to purchase and wear a funny hat!
There were every kind of hat you could think of, Baby bonnets with fuzzy ears. etc etc. What a great time. Dai Beer said to me at the Reunion this year and I quote " How the Hell did we ever survive Lemgo"
Great times, Great People, Great Memories.
