When we said to my dad can I do something and he'd said no (which was rare), we moaned but you do, to which he used to say 'You don't do as I do, you do as you're told!' Life is soooo unfair!!
Trouble is after vowing not to be like my parents, I found I used the same phrase (and many others they uttered) on my children and now the next generation will, I'm sure hear it just as soon as they utter the immortal words!
God bless my parents, I miss them loads.
