Hi Al
Won't that make a reunion trip that much more interesting????
Still think it might be worth considering a nostalgic trip back to the old watering holes....just for old times sake.
Hingey:spinny:
hi guys,go to royal welsh veterans site, click on image gallery, there are a lot of photos of stornoway bks.also click on colin johns photo gallery he has 4 photos of 2nd world war photos of german soldiers on parade in front of the naafi in lemgo.
Just had a look at the photos for Lemgo. Nice to see the old place. Does any one remember the shop/Bakery across the road from the front gate ??? The smell of the fresh bread MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM lovely LOL
I remember that shop - apple strudel with cream from a machine. I also remember the butcher near Walter's bar that would ask you how many pounds/ounces you wanted, rather than kilos/grams - nice touch!
What about the barber some way behind the barracks with the shaky hands - styptic pencil always on hand!
There was a barbers shop was next door to the clothing store & we use to call him Herr cut LOL
Heres a good website of Lemgo barracks during the second world war and photos.
