I had a couple of tatoos shortly after joining the Bn and i really regret it now especially the ones on my forearms. Having seen so many people in the Bn with them i was tempted into doing the same. on the funny side a lot of people at the time (81 Warminster) had the countries they had visited on their arms, well we had a chef at the time on his first posting who had SALISBURY PLAIN on his arm bet he regrets that one.

Bri do you remember that full screw in depot, think he was in the D and D s he had so many his whole of his body was covered he looked blue because he had them tattooed over the top of other ones , the only parts of skin that was pink was his hands feet and head, think this is why i never got round to having any but still toying with the idea ,may be next year ....
Never even thought of having a tattoo during my stint of 23 years, there again I have never ever liked pain but each to his own.

Clive did 22 years without a tattoo, Matthew did 5, still without one. 5 minutes after leaving the army he had a welsh dragon on his upper arm. Dont tell him but I quite like it. Its small enough to be covered by a sleeve even a short sleeve. Trouble is now after a couple of years the dragon is looking somewhat pink!! Not such a nice look!!

no tattoos on this callsign never really thought about it ,l just looked at scouses that put me off for life :biglaugh:
Ended up with three somehow, even after seeing my mate (in juniors) coming back from Poole one weekend with three feather dusters stuck into what looked like a wedding ring instead of a scroll and Cymru am Beth (Wales is What) written in it. Apparently the tattooist had tried to copy the pattern on a 2p coin and neither of them could read the contents of the scroll so he made it up based on what my mate told him.
Although I wouldn’t have any more done I don’t regret them, even if my Welsh Dragon is also slightly ‘light red’ in places.
I remember being told a story about tattoo’s by a guy in the Black Watch when we first got to Berlin, I really hope it’s true.
One of this guys friends got back from leave with a series of tattoos on the inside of his forearm; a Campbell’s soup can, an eyeball, a screw and the letter U. So it read “can I screw you” another one of his mates saw this and thought he would have the same tattoos done, so he went off to the tattooist in Spandau and explained, after a few beers what he wanted, he got a bucket and eye (complete with lashes) a nail and a U. Somehow I don’t think “bucket I nail you” would have the same effect unless DM100 and the Starlight was involved!!
Nothing on show all tattoo's above elbow and under trouser line he's having a half sleeve done (i have no idea) :arghh:Quote:

I'd quite like a little tattoo to be honest, a celtic knot was my preference.
Unfortunately it involves pain so that won't be happening.
Pat's tattoo's are rather nice and part of who he is. I think, within limits, a tattoo or two can be quite attractive on a man.
He has a very funny one by his navel but I'm sure he'll add to this thread himself when he's backl.
I much prefer tattoo to piercings, one anecdote: My body's a canvas not a skewer - made me laugh.
Now 61 years old and 22+ years with RWF and still No tattoo's, and still looking good, mind you I may have bigger areas to put them now! !Quote:
