Hello,
The book I reckon we are considering on this thread is "Fusiliers" and a foot note on the bottom of the dust jacket reads "Eight years with the Redcoats in America.This book was written by Mark Urban, he also wrote "Rifles" this I believe is about the Regiment Sharpe served in. Fusiliers is 319 pages and contains notes on sources, a bibliography, and a comprehensive index. The book is listed as being £20-00p to buy. It is a hard back book with a dust jacket, The blurb ob the inside page of the Dust jacket states it covers the period from Lexington Green to Yorktown in 1781 where Gentleman Johnny Burgoyne surrendered to the Americans and French forces. It is printed by Faber and Faber Another quote is as follows;
One regiment marched thousands of miles and fought a dozen battles to uphold British rule in America "The Royal Welch Fusiliers" A very good read for historians Another book not to be confused with this book by Mark Urban is "Redcoats" By Richard Holmes this is a mixture, of many campaigns that the Redcoats took part in, another good book this book also mentions the R W F.

Can you do it as a separate thread please Don…Many thanks
Hello all,
I will get a start on books that are of use and of interest to the all former R W F men and even historians (With tongue in cheek)
A bit of info on Mark Urban. He served on a short service commission in the Royal tank Regiment for 9 months and then done 4 years in the T A. He joined the B B C in 1983 during the period from 1986 to 1990 he was the defence correspondent for the Independent news paper. My format may well deal with the history of the R W F from books written just after the Great War, or even other conflicts. Then I can give some more info on books written by ex serving members of the R W F. Some may well be out of print but fore warned is fore armed, if you know what you are looking for you may well strike pay dirt, but make sure of the condition and price you pay for books you seek. I start the job in hand today. I will start a new thread as Al Poole requested.
