I think the difference was that Perky was like one of the boys but also still the boss! The lads respected Perky and he them!
During the days of Company Clubs in Tidworth in the Hay Day of Delta Company cap Comforters(Darts Team) Perky was in the Bar with the boys till the end, on many occasions Jinx & Perky would be holding each other up, The Last men standing!!! with the barman awaiting to close and go to breakfast, many occasions breakfast would have to come to them!
Happy Days!
i remember perky when he first joined the batt, he came to d,coy i think he was about the best officer we ever had ..as he was more like one of the lads than an officer .cant remeber the name of the other one that came at the same time , but we called them pinky and perky ..good time,s
hope he is doing well
a p.s to my last msg..think he had hollow legs
I was in Deltas in Tidworth in the mid 70's & Perky came to be the OC of the coy & he was the best bloke for the job. But I cant remember seeing him in Lichfield depot in 85 as I was posted there at that time. But it would be nice to hear about him. Sel
