Owing to known German defences, the capability at Corps level, high number of weapons systems specialising in saturation, terrain, limited number of routes for advance, extensive minefields, chokepoints, improvised fortifications, single ford crossing point over the Guigne, comms difficulties...

I don't do counter-factuals, but I am very confident to state the end result of employing a Div for this final stage would have resulted in a catastrophic bloodbath on an unprecedented scale. Potentially making Jupiter look like a cakewalk in comparison.
