This was probably the battle for the Reichswald Forest, Operation Veritably. Patrick Delaforce's "Red crown and dragon has a few pages about it and the 4th battalions role in the battle. I cheched "Geoffs search engine" for casualties from the 4th battalion from the 10-17th february 1945. The most on a single day was 10 on the 16/02/1945.
Here is the link http://www.hut-six.co.uk/cgi-bin/search39-47.php
I entered the date as above, unit text 4th and chose the Royal Weloch Fusiliers in the scroll list for Regiment/Corps.
Here is a list of the casualties on the same date:
Kind regards

Hi
Not sure if it is just military background you are looking for or information in general.
I have found on the ancestry web site a William D. Riach, born in Birkenhead Cheshire in Apr/May/Jun 1919. Mother's maiden name is noted as being Godby. Recorded under Volume 8a Page 583.
