Re: Snow
I had a minor bump in my van a couple of weeks ago (my fault). The firms owner instructed the Area manager to tell my manager to give me a verbal warning. Friday morning arrived with the snow, quite deep but normally I would have attempted to drive to work (in the van). Cobblers I thought, I am on a verbal warning I'm not making the decision. So, I phoned my manager and asked him to decide whether to risk it or not. He phoned the area manger who said " I got into work alright" but NO decision. My manager phones me back and tells me what the area manager had told him, to which I replied do I leave or not? "Can you phone him" said my Manager. No said I, you make the decision! It does go on but eventually he finally said (at 1230) Ok you can give it a go.......if you think it is alright to try. Officer material or what!

Re: Snow
Gwyn,
Typical, some things never change! Its probably because of managers like this the Country did come to a standstill.

Re: Snow
Said in a Lancashire accent please.
Luxury, we used to dream of only having 5 inches of snow. We've had 5 inches of snow every 10 minutes for the last two months. My wife would send me out int storm to get her two chocolate eggs and then thrash me when I got back cos I took too long. Of course I had it tough because then she'd send me out to clear the drive in only my shorts, if I were lucky. At -29 I'd come back indoors to find my dangly bits had dropped off and saw my neighbours dogs run off down the road with them. And you tell the young kids in the UK that and they'll never believe you.
Actually. it was -29 the other morning with the wind chill factor taking it down to -35 and I really did think the jewels were going to drop off. Not nice.
