Berlin Quiz anyone?
A number of weeks ago, quite a few Serving and Ex RWF lads met up in Wrexham for the night. myself and Jase Hill decided to come armed with a number of quiz questions relating to the Regiments posting to Berlin(89-92). The questions related to all things Berlin, from the Bus stop name at camp, to the name of the club below the NAAFI. It included battalion personalities and many memorable moments.
The quiz was well received and it certaintly had us scratching our heads. Im just putting the feelers out to see if there is enough interest for me to place a quiz onto the relevant page next week. Please could you reply if interested, and I will submit twenty or so Berlin related questions next week.
Regards,
Scouse 75
P.s- The answers to the examples were 'Hottengrund' and 'The Trench'!!

Apologies to older/younger forum members who were not in Berlin, but you will still probably score higher than Sid Burns!!

Re: Berlin Quiz anyone?
But wasn't it great to be there at that historic time.
Our camp's perimiter wall at one end was 'the wall'
I remember taking the kids out on our bikes - hanging a right out of camp to 'the wall' - found a big hole and went through, cycled around the road between the two walls until we came to a hole - gap - on the other side (after stopping and exploring several lookout towers and filling a jar we found, with 'nomansland sand' - which I still have) and went through.
We pedalled through the forest and came across this cafe/bar by the side of a lake - had a bratty. Bombed home - got our swimming gear, went back and spent the rest of the day there - very weird feeling knowing we must have been the first Brits there for a long long time.
Next day I walked across Glienicke Bridge where spies used to be exchanged between East and West - there was this white line across the centre - the E German Guards were still on duty - man it felt so scary stepping across that.
Anyway - go for it - I only did half the tour before getting posted - but I was just about to become a military tour guide before I did - so I reckon I'll get a question right!
I know Berlin like the back of my ha ........ OMG - how long's that freakin' WART been there :wideeyed:
