right boys where do i start ? I am out in September and am looking for a job. Nothing like the old boys network to see what 's out there. I have a few potential jobs coming up but i thought i would keep an open mind as to what is available. I am now a fully certified and qualified Computer maintenance Engineer and am about to become a Network Engineer in a few weeks.I would be very grateful if you know of anything if you could let me know Boys.Cheers, Paul
Well it is not easy getting into computing unless you have an angle and a it is normally a case of who you know and not what you know.
My Nephew has just left Uni with a Degree in computing and works for a Amusement Arcade as a Supervisor, So The police in the headquarter computer unit could be an option and you have Dickwash in the Bay.

i work for fujitsu-siemens as a hardware/network eng. i'll ask the area super in your area if theres anything avail. as one of the previous guys said try to specialise, i also fix cashpoints (there's always loads of work avail), try jobserve.com, send your cv to kba recuitment, datalect are looking as are lynx technologies. good luck

Hello mate, i work as an IT Field support engineer down at Newport gwent. I dont want to sound as though i am bringing the bearer of bad news, but to let you know that getting into this game is very difficult even if you have qualifications. I have been working around computers since i got out in 86 and have an HNC in computer administration. I fell into this job purely by luck, what people want these days is for experienced people that can fall into a cabling job and crack on. If you feel that you can pull up to a firm and run and install Cat5e or Cat6 with all the other paraphernalia ie routers, switches patch panels and boxes, and fix many computer hardware problems then hay nice one. If you cant, then you need to get experience. I asked my boss once whether he took me on for my qualifications - he said no, i was after the right sort of bloke that is willing to learn, i had no problems with that and have been here for two years. I was lucky! What happens these days, and its my experience that the Army (in my case) doesn't train people in the civy way of life, just gives you a taster. I qualified in welding on my resettlement course (City and Guilds) then went for a job on a refinery. I walked off site because they didn't teach deep penetration PIPE welding in the course, just deep penetration in BAR welding. I didn't want to look like an idiot even with a City and Guilds. I ended up being a tea boy!!
